8 c popped corn (about 1/2 c unpopped)
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 c brown sugar (packed)
1/2 c light corn syrup
1/2 water
1 tsp white vinegar
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 c butter or margarine

Directions:
Directions:
Measure pop corn into large bowl. Set aside.
Combine sugars, corn syrup. water, vinegar, and salt in 2 quart pan.
Heat to boiling over medium heat, stirring frequently
Cook to 260º on candy thermometer (or until small amount of mixture dropped into very cold water forms a hard ball.)
Reduce heat to low, stir in butter until melted.
Pour syrup in thin stream over corn in bowl, stirring until corn is well coated
Cool slightly
Butter hands, shape mixture into 3 in balls and place on waxed paper

Mom use to call hers taffy popcorn. She would cook it only until it formed a soft ball in cold water. She would put pop corn in roasting pan and drizzle the syrup over it. You would eat it that way. Usually served during Bonanza.

Mom would also boil the syrup to hard stage and make taffy out of it. She would pour it on wax paper and let it cool some. You would butter your hands and pull it and stretch it and twist it. then you cut it into pieces.
