1 cup brown sugar
4 Tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups evaporated milk
2 egg yolks
1 Tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
In top of double boiler, combine brown sugar, cornstarch, salt and milk. Stir and keep stirring until it thickens. Mix in egg yolks, stir and keep cooking until it thickens. Remove from heat, and add butter and vanilla. Keep stirring.

Pour into cooked pie crust.

Meringue: 2 egg whites, 1/8 teaspoon salt, 2 Tablespoons powdered sugar and 1/8 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until stiff. Put on top of the pie.

Bake at 400 degrees F for 5 minutes or until brown.
Cool before slicing.
