1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt

2 T. sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:
Heat oven to 400º.
In large bowl, beat 1 1/2 cups sugar and margarine until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs; blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt; mix well.
In small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon. Shape dough into 1-inch balls; roll in sugar-cinnamon mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 400º for 8 to 10 minutes, or until set. Immediately remove from cookie sheets.
YIELD: About 4 dozen cookies
