1/2 c soft butter
1/3 c sifted confectioners' sugar
1 tbsp. water
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/4 c all purpose flour
dash of salt
2/3 c chopped pitted dates
1/2 c chopped walnuts
extra confectioners' sugar for rolling

Directions:
Directions:
Cream soft butter and confectioners' sugar
Stir in water and vanilla
Add flour and dash of salt
Mix well
Stir in chopped dates and chopped walnuts
Roll in 1 inch balls
Place 2 1/2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet
Bake in slow oven (300º) about 20 minutes until cookies are set but not brown
While warm, roll in confectioners' sugar
