2 pkgs. dry yeast
2 3/4 cups warm water
2 oz. margarine, softened
3 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. salt
3 eggs
8 cups flour
1 cup oil
5 tbsp. coarse salt
5 tbsp. pepper
Directions:
Directions:
In a small bowl, add yeast to warm water; set aside. In a large bowl, add margarine, sugar and salt; beat well. Add eggs and beat with a wooden spoon. Add water/yeast mixture; stir well. Add all the flour, 2 cups at a time, until well-incorporated. Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth; place in a greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise for 1/2 hour and punch down in the bowl. Let rise again until doubled. Pour 3 to 4 tablespoons of oil over dough, then turn out and roll into a log about 14 inches long. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and make a complete circle with the dough; closing the ends together. Put the rest of the oil on top, then sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake in a preheated 325º oven for 45 to 50 minutes or until lightly brown.

This is a very old Italian bread recipe from our grandmother. Mom watched her make it and wrote down what she thought were the right amount of ingredients. You can adjust the salt and pepper you sprinkle on the top, depending on how spicy you want it. This bread is very unique and resembles nothing we have ever tasted before!
