1/2 cup water
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon oil (or whatever flavor you choose)
Red food coloring (or whatever color is appropriate for the flavor you choose)
Powdered sugar

Directions:
Combine sugar, syrup, and water in a medium size saucepan. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly, wiping crystals from side of pan. Lower heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, to 300. Or a small amount of mixture will separate into threads that are hard and brittle when dipped into cold water. Remove sauce pan from heat. Stir in flavoring and a few drops of food coloring. Pour onto a large oiled cookie sheet. Cool, break into smaller pieces and dust with powdered sugar.

Personal Notes:
You can make this hotter or milder by adjusting the amount of cinnamon oil. Clove oil is also very good.
