1 - 2 lbs of lean ground beef
1 - medium onion chopped
1 - medium green bell pepper
1 - 28 oz can of tomato sauce
1 - 28 oz can of whole peeled tomatoes
1 - 28 oz can of water
1 - 2 tbsp. of chili powder
1/2 lb of uncooked shells
salt
pepper
vegetable oil

In a 4 quart dutch oven pour enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom of the pan. Heat over medium heat while you chop the onion. Put onion in the pan and cook over medium heat until burned. Add ground beef once the onions are burned and cook over medium heat until browned. Add tomato sauce and tomatoes crushing them in your hand as you add them. Add water until chili is the desired thickness. Add chili powder, salt and pepper to taste. over and continue to heat over medium heat while chopping bell pepper. Add bell pepper and continue to heat over medium heat until it begins to boil. Cover, reduce heat to low and cook until vegetables are the desired consistency. Cook the shells and add as many as you like to the chili. Serve.

When I was in Germany my Mom and Grandma came to visit when Nikki was only a couple of months old. Grandma taught me to make this and another of my favorites which I will add to this collection later.
