Oatmeal Cookies Recipe

1 cup shortening
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
2 cups oats
1 cup chopped pecans

1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Combine shortening, brown sugar and sugar. Beat until fluffy.
3. Add eggs and vanilla and beat well.
4. Combine flour, salt and baking soda and add to creamed mixture. Beat well.
5. Stir in oats and pecans with spoon.
6. Drop by tbsp onto uncreased cookie sheet and bake for 7-8 min.
