1 Gallon cucumbers
1 large or 2 small onions (thinly sliced)
1/2 c pickling salt (kosher salt)

BRINE
5c Sugar 1 1/2 tsp turmeric 2Tbsp Mustard seed
5c Vinegar 1/2 tsp ground cloves

Directions:
Directions:
slice cucumbers and onions into a large bowl. Sprinkle salt over the top and let stand for at least 3 hours (sometimes I do mine overnight in the fridge)
Drain thoroughly.

In a large non reactive pan (enamel or stainless steel), bring brine ingredients to a boil. Add cucumbers & heat through.

Pack in jars and seal.

** You can cold pack your cucumbers in jars and pour brine over to fill within 1" from lid. This makes for a slightly crisper pickle.
