This dish is amazing to clear out the fridge or freezer! Ingredients can change to Italian sausage, kelbasa, carrots, parsnips, turnips, brussels sprouts, the possibilities of combinations are endless and delicious. Its easier to have everything ready to go in the pan, once this dish gets started, it's quick! The basic premise is this, start out with a roasting pan that is stove and oven safe, turn oven up to 475, heat on 2 burners on stove med high heat. Put thickest and fattiest meat in to brown 1st. Then add thick veggies, progressively add the lighter items. You can season your chicken with salt, pepper and garlic powder, potatoes are the same. Most of the flavors with meld together to taste amazing with little to no spices. Start the Browning on the stove, then into the hot oven, set timer for 20 minutes, turn items back in oven, turn down to 425 and set timer for 15 minutes, it may be done by this time if not just move things around and keep a close eye on things. If too much grease accumulates on the bottom as sometimes can happen with sausage and bacon, I use tongs and paper towels to soak up grease periodically throughout cooking.
We like to serve ours over white rice usually.
