1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. molasses
2 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. cloves
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and molasses - mix well. Sift together flour, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Add to creamed mixture. Put 2 tsp. baking soda in boiling water and add to batter last. Bake in a 9x9 square pan at 350 for 30 minutes.
