Hamburger Soup Recipe

1 1/2 lbs hamburger
1 - 28 oz can of tomatoes
3 cans of consomme or beef broth
4 carrots, chopped
3 celery sticks, chopped
1/2 tsp thyme
1 cup cooked barley (optional)
1 onion, chopped
2 cups water
1 can tomato soup
1 bay leaf

Brown meat and onion. Drain off excess fat. Combine all ingredients in a large pot and simmer for at least 2 hours. This can also be done in a large slow cooker for approximately 6 hours or until vegetables are tender.
