Directions:
In large bowl stir together flour, cocoa, salt, baking soda and powder. In mixer beat together butter/margarine with sugar on low speed until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla and beat well. Gradually add dry ingredients to creamed mixture until well blended. Shape dough into 1" balls, place onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Press down center of dough with thumb.

Drain maraschino cherries, reserving juice. Place one cherry in the center of each cookie.

In small saucepan combine chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk and heat on low until chocolate is melted. Stir in 4 t of cherry juice. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of frosting over each cherry, spreading until cherry is covered (if frosting is too thick use more cherry juice to thin).

Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes or until cookies are done. Remove onto a wire rack and cool.

Personal Notes:
Aunt Linda made these in 1985 and brought them on a summer vacation to a beach house we all shared. Uncle Joe devoured most of them and the kids nicknamed him "Uncle Woof Woof" because he woofed down more than his share of these delicious cookies.
