6 to 8 large potatoes, preferably russet
16 oz. sour cream
1 large tbsp. of ricotta cheese
1 1/2 lb. cheddar cheese, shredded
1 large yellow onion

Directions:
Directions:
Slice the potatoes very thin.
Chop onion and mix with sour cream, shredded cheese and ricotta.
Thickly coat a heavy baking dish with butter. (Tina's favorite baking dish is a 45 year old Le Creuset)
Put down a layer of potatoes,followed by a layer odf sour cream mixture.Repeat ending with the sour cream mixture.
Bake at 395 to 425 degrees for an hour and a half until bubbly and brown on top.
