1 c. oats
1 1/2 c. water
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1 tsp. each of cinnamon and nutmeg
1/4 tsp. each of salt and cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Pour boiling water over oats and let soften.

Cream shortening and sugars. Add eggs, beating well after each addition.

Combine flour, cinnamon, baking soda, salt, and cloves; incorporate into creamed ingredients a little at a time until thoroughly blended. Stir in oatmeal mixture.

Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes.
