2 1/2 cups whole milk
2 cups half & half
4 oz. Mexican chocolate, grated
4 oz. milk chocolate, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 vanilla bean, seeds scraped
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. chili powder (optional)
a pinch of nutmeg
cinnamon stick to garnish

Directions:
Directions:
In a medium saucepan, combine milk, half & half and all the chocolate over low heat. When chocolate is melted, add sugar, vanilla, vanilla bean seeds, ground cinnamon and nutmeg. Whisk all together. Return pan to stove on low heat, reheating gently. Serve immediately in mugs, using a cinnamon stick to garnish. Add chili powder slowly, it's all to taste. Add 4 tablespoons of dark rum to the whole recipe if you're feeling frisky!

We had this Mexican hot chocolate at the famous Estrella Negra Mexican restaurant in Chicago. It is smooth, rich and so chocolaty, that you won't even think about anything else sweet for dessert!
