5 LARGE POTATOES GRADED
1/2 TEAS. SALT
1 1/2 CUPS FLOUR
1 TEAS. BAKING POWDER
1 CHUNK OF HAM OR MEAT OF CHOICE, 1 CHOPPED ONION.

OPTIONAL RECIPE
8 LG. POTATOES
1 TEAS. SALT
3/4 CUP BISQUICK OR JIFFY BAKE
1 2/3 CUPS FLOUR.

Boil ham with chopped onions in simmering water about 30 minutes - 1 hour, take out meat and put in bowl, or you may leave in if you like. Grate potatoes fine. Mix flour and salt and baking powder in a bowl. Add to potatoes to make a soft dough, add flour as needed, should be wet.
Drop by tablespoons or larger into boiling ham broth. Cook on simmer 1 hour covered, careful not to boil over. Do not stir shake kettle so they don't stick. Strain and serve with salt, pepper and lots of butter.
You can mash them on your plate and add the butter if you like to eat them that way.
