5 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
3 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons sugar
3/4 cup vegetable shortening
1 yeast cake dissolved in 1/2 cup lukewarm water
2 cups buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients together, cut in shortening until mixed thoroughly. Add buttermilk and dissolved yeast. Work together with a large spoon until all flour is moistened. Cover bowl and put in refrigerator until ready to use.
When ready to use take out as much as needed, roll on a floured board to 1/2 inch thickness and cut.
Bake at 400 degrees on a cookie sheet for about 12 minutes, or until brown.
This recipe makes about 6 dozen light, flaky biscuits. Dough will keep for several weeks in the refrigerator.
