Cream together
1 c. wesson oil
1 1/3 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
Sift together;
2 c. flour
1 t. salt
1 t. soda
1. t. cinnamon
1/2 t. allspice
1/2 t. nutmeg
Add in:
3 eggs (unbeaten)
1 t. vanilla
Fold in
1 c. dried prunes which have already been boiled, stewed until soft, diced, mashed, and cooled. (Or, you can cheat and use two jars of Beechnut prune baby food.)
1 c. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Pour cake mix into a large greased and floured pan; bake in 350º oven for 45 minutes. The mashed prunes (plums) make the cake wonderfully moist.

Cooked Buttermilk Icing

Cook together over low heat in medium to large pant:
1 c. granulated white sugar
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 T. soft butter
1/2 t. soda
Cook icing until the butter melts and icing foams.

Pour the hot icing over the cake while it is hot.
