1 pkg. dry yeast
2 c. lukewarm water
4 c. self-rising flour
1/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. melted shortening
1 egg

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in water. Mix flour, sugar, shortening and egg together with yeast in a large bowl. Store covered in refrigerator and use as desired. The batter will keep for several days. To cook: Spoon batter into well-greased muffin tins and bake immediately at 425 for 20 minutes. You do not have to wait for them to rise.
