2 lb beef round steak, 1 inch thick

2 tbsp oil
1 tbsp margarine or butter
1 8 oz can whole or diced tomatoes
1 onion, sliced or diced
salt and black pepper to taste
garlic powder to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Cut steaks into 6 pieces. Place each piece between a layer of wax paper and with mallet pound each piece until it is about 3/4 to 1/2" thick.

Put floor in a bowl. Dip each piece into flour, coating both sides.

In a large skillet, over medium heat, heat oil and butter, place steak pieces in skillet to brown. Sprinkle salt, pepper and garlic powder on each piece. Cook for 5 to 8 minutes on each side. Add tomatoes, onion and water. If you find that the sauce is too thick, add more water.

Simmer covered in a preheated 350º oven until meat and vegetables are tender, approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

Personal Notes:
Another one of those dishes that we enjoyed on the farm. Mashed potatoes or Lazy Cabbage Rolls go very well with this dish.
