4 c. frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed

3 tbsp. vegetable oil

Sprinkle black pepper

1 lb. ground beef

1 pkg. Brown Gravy Mix

1 c. water

½ t. Garlic Salt

1 10 oz. frozen mixed vegetables

1 c. shredded cheddar cheese

1 can French Fried Onions

In a shallow 1½ quart baking dish combine, potatoes oil and pepper. Firmly press mixture across bottom and up sides of dish to form a shell. Bake,uncovered,at 400º for 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, in skillet brown beef. Mix gravy mix, water and garlic salt; pour over ground beef, bring to a boil. Add mixed vegetables; reduce heat to medium and cook 5 minutes. Stir in ½ cup cheese and ½ of French Fried Onions; place in potato shell.

Bake uncovered at 350º for 15 minutes. Sprinkle with remaining cheese and onions; bake 5 minutes longer.

Makes 4 to 6 servings.

** When a recipe calls for mixed vegetable I always add a little extra corn, it seems to me that mixed vegetables do not have as much corn as I like.
