3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 pound orange slice candy, cut up
2 c. pecans, chopped
1 can Angel flake coconut
8 oz. dates, chopped
1/2 lb. butter or margarine, softened
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda

TOPPING
1 c. orange juice
2 c. confectioner's sugar

Directions:

Sift together the flour and salt. Use 1/2 the mixture to coat the sliced candy, pecans, coconut, and dates.
Cream together thoroughly the butter or margarine and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each is added. To this creamed mixture, add alternately the dry ingredients and the buttermilk to which the baking soda has been added. Add the fruit mixture and mix well. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan. Bake 1 hour and 45 minutes at 300º.
Before removing from pan, mix the orange juice and confectioner's sugar. Pour over cake. Let cool before removing from pan.
