1 c butter
1 c firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg yolk
1 c sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
6 5/8 oz. chocolate bars
1/2 c finely chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º

Cream butter until fluffy. Add brown sugar and egg yolk, mixing well after each addition. Add flour and vanilla. Continue to beat until well mixed.

Grease a 17 by 12 by 1/2-inch jelly roll pan. Turn dough onto pan. Spread with a spatula.

Bake 25 minutes or until edges are crisp and brown.

Remove pan from oven and place chocolate bars on top. Spread melted chocolate evenly over cookie. Sprinkle with nuts (optional). Cut into squares while warm.

I normally put parchment paper down before spreading the batter.
