1 cup shortening (1/2 must be butter)
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp almond extract
2 1/2 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening. Add sugar and cream well. Add egg and almond. Add the flour to make a stiff dough. Add a small ball of dough to the sandbakkel tin and press evenly on inside, spreading as thin as possible on bottom and sides of tin. Place filled tins on cookie sheet. Bake in 375º oven for 15 minutes until very lightly browned. Cool until you can handle. Invert tin and tap to remove cookie. Clean tins with a dry towel. DO NOT WASH.

Trudy has Grandma Carlstad's tins and this is a Christmas treat. Grandma Carlstad used to tell me I was making them too thick!
