6 hot dogs
4-6 medium potatoes (mashed)
6 slices American cheese
1/2 stick butter
1-2 c. milk

Peal potatoes, then cut into quarters, add to pot and cover with water and boil until you can easily stick a fork in them. Drain potatoes, put them in a mixer, add butter and 1/2 cup milk and mix. Add more milk and/or butter until you have a good consistency for mashed potatoes.

Preheat oven to 350º

Slice hotdogs the long way, but not all the way through. Lay hot dogs evenly on a cookie sheet, add a scoop of the potatoes to each hotdog, place in oven until hotdogs are almost done, then remove add a slice of cheese and replace in oven until cheese has melted.

It's funny what you remember from your childhood. I made these for my kids and they liked them but not as much as I did. Must just be the memories for me that make them still taste so good.
