4 c. all purpose flour

4 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. salt

1 c. shortening

3 ⅓ c. sugar

4 tsp. vanilla

4 eggs

4 squares melted chocolate

⅔ c. milk

1 c. nuts (optional)

Confectioner’s sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients together. Cream shortening, sugar, vanilla; beat in eggs, chocolate; add dry ingredient alternately with milk. Add nuts. Chill 3 hours or over night.

Form in 1 inch balls, roll in confectioners’ sugar; place on greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake at 350º for 15 minutes.
Yields about 7 dozen.
