2 cups Stone Ground grits
5 cups water

Directions:
Directions:
Place the grits, water, salt and pepper in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, cover and simmer over medium low heat for about 20 to 30 minutes, until grits are thick and creamy. Stir occasionally to prevent them from sticking.
When cooked, remove from heat then add the cheese and butter, stirring until smooth. Serve immediately or keep warm over simmering water in a double boiler for up to 30 minutes.
