1 1/2 c brown sugar
1 1/2 c granulated sugar
3 sticks cinnamon
1 tbsp. whole cloves
1 1/2 c Heinz Vinegar (white or half white and half cider)
3 qt fresh firm peaches, pears or crabapples (about 6 lb)

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugars, vinegar and spices (tied in cheesecloth bag). Boil gently 10 minutes and remove spice bag.
Peaches: Scald in boiling water, peel and cut in halves or quarters.
Pears: Peel, core and cut in half (leave whole if very small).
Crabapples: Wash; do not peel; leave stems on.
Drop fruit into hot liquid immediately after peeling. (For crabapples, syrup may be tined with red food coloring). Simmer until just barely tender. Remove fruit with slotted spoon and pack into hot sterilized jars. Bring syrup to boil and pour over fruit to cover completely. Seal.
