Ingredients:
Ingredients:

3 # hamburger (not lean)
1 # sausage
3 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. pepper
1 large onion, chopped
2 T. chopped garlic
1 c. uncooked rice
1-2 heads of cabbage
3 cans (14.5 oz.) sauerkraut

Directions:
Directions:
Fill a large pot with water (need to be able to put a whole cabbage in pot.)
Core cabbage and drop into boiling water. As leaves begin to soften, remove from boiling water. You want them just pliable so you can wrap the meat in them. (If the leaves don't want to come off, you may have to cut the core a little deeper.) As they cool, you may have to cut a little more of the core at the bottom of the leaf off.

Mix the first seven ingredients with about 2 cups warm water (add enough water to make it moist). Set aside.

In a large pan, pour one can of the sauerkraut in bottom of pan.
Take a cabbage leaf, put a small amount of meat on the cabbage leaf and roll it like a burrito. Try to keep it all tucked in.
Place the cabbage roll in the pan. When you have the bottom covered, pour another can of sauerkraut on top and continue the process.
Place sauerkraut on top. Cover with water and cook on top of stove for 3-4 hours.

Personal Notes:
You can double this recipe and put them in an electric roaster.
Also if you don't care for as much sauerkraut you can just use 2 cans and spread less on each layer.
