1/4 c. butter
1 c. light brown sugar
1 egg
3/4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter, remove from heat and stir in brown sugar. Cool. Beat in egg. Sift dry ingredients and stir into brown sugar mixture. Add vanilla and nuts. Mix well. Spread in well-greased 8 x 8 x 2 pan. Bake at 350º for 30 - 35 minutes. Cut into diamonds or squares.
