Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup peanut butter at room temperature. (Chunky style if you like to add the peanut texture)
1/4 cup plus 1 tbsp (for sprinkling) white sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 large egg at room temperature
1 tablespoon milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup peanut butter chips
1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional but I like to add these because chocolate is good in anything)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
In another large bowl, beat the butter and the peanut butter, together until fluffy. Add the sugars and beat until smooth. Add the egg and mix well. Add the milk and the vanilla extract. Add the flour mixture and beat thoroughly. Stir in the peanut butter chips and chocolate chips (if you are adding them). Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto un-greased cookie sheets, leaving several inches between for expansion. Using a fork lightly indent with a crisscross pattern, but do not overly flatten cookies. Lightly sprinkle cookies with sugar. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Do not over bake. Cookies may appear to be underdone but they are not.
Cool cookies on the sheets for 1 minute then remove to a rack to cool completely.

This recipe is a variation from that used at the Magnolia Bakery in New York City. If you prefer a more crisp cookie you can reverse the white sugar and brown sugar measurements. These cookies are very tasty!
