½ c. shortening (like Crisco in a blue can -- shortening is a white solid product that feels greasy)
½ c. butter
1 ½ c. sugar
2 ¾ c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
¼ tsp. salt
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 tsp. cream of tartar (found in spice section, it is a white powder)

Topping:
2 TBSP sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon

Preheat oven to 400º.

Cream together the shortening, sugar, butter, vanilla, and eggs. Add in flour, cream of tartar, salt and baking soda. Roll dough into 1/2-inch balls.

In a separate bowl mix together the 2 TBSP sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon. Rolls balls in the sugar/cinnamon mixture. Bake cookie balls 8-10 minutes. Cookie balls will spread.
