2 cans garbanzo beans/chickpeas (15 oz. can)
1 lb. cubed ham steak
1 lb. pepperoni or Spanish chorizo (which is firm and looks like a small stick of pepperoni)
4-6 potatoes, peeled and cut into large bite-size pieces
1 green pepper
1 small onion or half an onion to taste
saffron
salt and pepper

Add to a large pot of boiling water the garbanzo beans, potatoes, ham, and pepperoni. Add the green pepper. The green pepper can be halved with seeds removed, or diced into small pieces. Add the onion. I grate or puree the onion. Add salt and pepper. Add 2-3 pinches of saffron. Saffron will turn the soup yellow. Simmer about 45 minutes.

The meat flavors will diminish some as it flavors the broth. The soup will be very thin and a nice yellow color. The potatoes also turn yellowish.
