4 T Butter or margarine
4 T flour
2 C milk

In lg microwave safe bowl ( I use a 8 C batter bowl ) Melt Butter. Add flour and stir with whisk. Add milk. Microwave 4 min. Stir. Microwave 2 more min. Add milk if needed .Add pepper and salt.

Use as a base for many different dishes including-

Creamed peas
Add cooked peas to white sauce

Creamed Spinach or Asparagus
Drain liquid from canned spinach or asparagus into 2 c measuring cup. Add milk to make 2 cups. Make white sauce using milk/liquid. Add spinach or asparagus and stir.
