1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. sherry
1 can (29oz) pear halves (drained and 1/4 cup juice reserved)
1 T. vinegar
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
pinch of ground cloves
1/2 pkg. (8oz) cream cheese
1/4 c. chopped nuts
8 lettuce leaves

In medium bowl mix brown sugar, sherry, reserved juice, vinegar, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Microwave at High 1 to 3 minutes, or until boiling, stirring after half the time. Add pear halves, stirring to coat. Microwave at High 1 to 3 minutes, or until heated. Refrigerate until chilled.

Cut cream cheese into eight pieces. Shape into balls; roll in nuts. For each serving, place 1 pear on a lettuce leaf. Spoon on sauce. Place cheese ball in hollow of each pear.
