2 sticks butter
3 cups flour
3 cups sugar
6 eggs
1 8-oz. sour cream*
1 ½ tablespoons vanilla
1/4 teaspoon baking soda*

Directions:
Directions:
**FIRST: Put baking soda in sour cream and let sit to foam up while you prepare the rest.

Beat softened butter in mixer; slowly add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating until incorporated in butter/sugar mixture. Slowly add flour to mixture (put mixer on stir to keep flour from flying all over kitchen). Add sour cream/soda mixture and vanilla. Beat to incorporate. Spray tube pan with Pam for Baking or grease and flour pan. Put in cold oven and turn on 350 degrees for approximately 1 ¼ to 1-1/2 hrs, Cool and enjoy.

While Betsy and David were living away from Jackson and would come to visit us, she would always bring us a fresh baked pound cake. This is one of my very favorite deserts.
