Ingredients:
Ingredients:
Pastry for a 2 crust pie (I use Pillsbury frozen)
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
4 Tbs. flour
dash of salt
6 cups thinly sliced, peeled tart apples (I use a comination of Granny Smith and Macintosh)
2 tablespoons butter

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425. Line a 9-inch pie plate with your pastry.
2. Slice apples into a large bowl.
3. In a small bowl, combine sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt, mixing well
4. Pour sugar mixture over apples and toss gently to combine.
5. Turn apples into the pie plate, mounding in the center; dot with butter.
6. Roll out remaining pie dough to 11-inch circle. Make decorative slits in center. Roll out scraps of dough and make decorative pieces (hearts or leaves). Brush these decorative pieces with beaten egg white and stick onto the pie. The egg white will make them adhere.
7. Fold top edge of crust under bottom crust and press press together with fingers. Crimp edges decoratively.
8. Bake 45 to 50 minutes or fruit is tender and crust is golden brown. If crust starts to get too dark, shield with aluminum foil.
