2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 unbeaten eggs
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
2/3 c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour with baking powder.
Cream shortening and sugar.
Add vanilla and eggs.
Add flour mixture alternately with milk.
Spoon batter into cupcake tins (with paper fillers)
Fill 1/2 full of batter.
Bake at 375 degrees 15 to 18 minutes.

Mom says this recipe is very old and one of the best. I used to love it when she made them and they would be frosted with vanilla and chocolate frosting and then she would cover them with chopped walnuts or coconut. She left some plain. Wow they were good......
