16 C flour
3 C sugar
10 T cocoa
2 tsp baking soda
8 tsp baking powder
1 T cinnamon
1 T allspice
1 T nutmeg
1 T cloves
4 tsp salt
2 C shortening
1 1/2 C oil
4 C (quart) buttermilk
6 eggs
2 C chopped walnuts
3 bags chocolate chips
1 C raisins (optl)
for frosting:
2 lb confectionery sugar
1/4 pound butter
milk
vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and oil
Mix in buttermilk and eggs
Mix into combined dry ingredients.
Add nuts and chips and raisins. Dough will be oily.

Roll in one inch balls, bake 350 degrees until firm.

When still warm, either dip tops in confectioners sugar, or frost with following:

(1/2lb) 2 lb confect sugar, (1/4) 1 stick butter, enough milk to run, a little vanilla.

cookies are good, not too sweet. Large quantity recipe. Change from usual Christmas cookies. I often use 1/4 or recipe.
