1 - large hen
chicken broth
2 pans of rich egg cornbread made with 2 eggs
1/2 onion
1/2 cup celery, if desired
salt and pepper
sage or poultry seasoning, as desired

Directions:
Directions:
While the hen is stewing in a pan of water on the stove, make 2 pans of rich egg cornbread.
Remove broth after the chicken is done.
Crumble the inside of the cornbread into the broth.
A few homemade biscuits may be added, if desired.
Stir in onion and seasonings.
Place in a baking dish and bake to a light golden brown.
May shred chicken and stir into the dressing or place spoonsful of dressing around a platter of shredded chicken.

This is the traditional chicken dressing made for Sunday dinner by my Grandma, Savilla Hopkins Thomason which my mother, "Ma" or Lois Thomason Scott, continued to make while I was growing up.
