1/2 c Shortening
1/2 c Sugar
1 Egg
3/4 c Brer Rabbit Light Molasses
2-1/2 c Sifted All Purpose Flour
1-1/2 tsp Baking Soda
1 t Cinnamon
1 t Cloves
1/2 t Salt
1 c Hot Water

Directions:
Directions:
Melt shortening in 3 or 4 quart saucepan over low heat, remove from heat and cool.
Add sugar and egg, beat well.
Sift dry ingredients.
Combine molasses and water alternately with flour and first mixture.
Bake at 350º for 50-60 minutes.
