2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 sticks butter, melted
2 eggs
pinch of salt
4 apples, peeled & cut up

Directions:
Directions:
Combine all ingredients. Batter will be on the thick side. Put into a greased and floured 9x13" baking pan. Bake at 375º for 45 minutes.

Polly was my daddy's mother. She cooked for 12 kids and her recipes were a hand full of this and pinch of that. When my parents were first married, Daddy kept asking for an apple cake, and Mama didn't know what he wanted. When they went home to visit Daddy's parents, Mama watched Grandma Polly make this cake and measured everything. That was the beginning of this recipe!
