32 oz 2% or higher milk (4 cups)
1 pkg yogurt starter, or a container of plain yogurt can be used

Jam--nuts--fruit--granola to add for flavor

Directions:
Directions:
Heat milk to 180º on stove or in microwave.
Let cool to 110º--112º. Stir in yogurt starter (recommended) or the plain yogurt.
Pour into 8 oz jars and place in yogurt maker (if you have one) for 8--9 hours.
Immediately place caps on containers and store in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.

If you're going to get into making your own yogurt, purchase a yogurt maker to take the guesswork out of it. You can also make in a thermos or a very, very low oven. You can google those instructions. You can also make with the fruit etc added at the time of preparation, but I think it's nice to just add what I want when I open it--whatever you feel like adding
