Ingredients:
1 qt. milk
3 sticks butter
5 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 tbsp. salt
2 tsp ground cardamom (15-20 seeds, crushed)
2 pkgs. yeast in 1/2 cup warm water
1 lbs. candied fruit
1 lbs. raisins
16 cups flour (approx.)

Directions:
Directions:
Bring milk to a boil and add butter. Let cool to lukewarm. Beat eggs with sugar and salt. Combine with cooled milk and butter. Add yeast that has been dissolved in warm water. Stir in flour and fruit. Keep adding flour to make dough easy to handle. Turn dough onto lightly floured board. Let rest, covered for about 15 minutes. Knead in enough flour to make dough smooth and elastic. Place in large greased bowl. Let rise until double in size. Knead down about 5 minutes. Let rise again until double. Punch down dough and shape into desired size loaves. This makes 7 large loaves. Bake about 45-60 minutes at 350º.

Frost loaves with a butter cream frosting made by mixing soften butter, powdered sugar, a splash of cream and vanilla or almond extract. Optional: add several drops of red food coloring.
