1 egg beaten
1 3/4 C. buttermilk (you can substitute reg. milk but. I never do.
1/4 C. veg. oil (you may want to put in some bacon drippings)
2 C. Martha White corn meal

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 450 deg.
Grease 9" black iron skillet (place it in the oven to heat)
In a large bowl, combine all ing. Mix well. Pour batter into pan.
Bake at 450 deg. 20-25 min.
I make this corn bread every New Year's Day to eat with black eyed peas and greens. Black eyed peas for good luck. Greens for $$$!

If it is me...I fry up a few pieces of bacon and grease the skillet with it. It makes a lot of difference. GOOD!
