Use any fried chicken (or visit Colonel Sanders) and serve with these savory waffles:

1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup white flout
1 tsp dried rosemary
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp grated lemon zest
1/4 tsp salt and pepper
2 large eggs
1 3/4 cups buttermilk
3/4 cup butternut squash - pureed (bake and mash)
1/4 cup olive oil
1 Tbsp brown sugar
maple syrup to pour over the top

Directions:

Set oven to warm. Heat waffle iron.

In large bowl, whisk fours with rosemary, baking powder, lemon zest, salt and pepper.

In medium bowl, whisk eggs with milk, squash, oil and brown sugar. Pour over the four mixture. Gently whisk until just moistened - a few lumps are okay.

Cook until golden brown, about four minutes. Keep warm and serve with maple syrup.
