3 lbs. chunked stew beef
3 tbsps. minute tapioca
1 tbsps. salt
1 tbsps. sugar
1/4 tsp allspice
2 bay leaves
pepper to taste
1/2 cup croutons
1 cup tomato sauce
3/4 cup red wine
2 lbs. quartered potatoes
1 1/2 lbs. 2" thick carrot chunks
1 1/4 lbs. quartered onions

Place all ingredients in 5 quart casserole in order listed above. Cover tightly and place in 250º oven for 5 hours. Don't peak: don't worry that it looks as if there is not enough liquid. It is infallible!
