6 cups flour
2 teaspoons salt
4 teaspoons baking powder
⅓ teaspoon baking soda
½ cup sugar
½ cup oil
2 cups buttermilk at room temperature
2 packets yeast in ½ cup warm water

Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients, except yeast, in mixing bowl.

Put a sprinkling of sugar in the ½ cup warm water; mix, then add yeast and allow time to proof.

In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, oil, and yeast mixture, mixing until well blended.

Add dry mixture to the liquid mixture, mix well.

Pour onto a lightly floured board, knead a few times, cut to any size with a cutter.

Place biscuits on pan greased with shortening or butter.

Bake at 425° for 10 minutes.

NOTE: Dough will keep in refrigerator for one week.

This recipe can be halved. Half makes about 16 biscuits. Use ¼ teaspoon baking soda when halving.
