1 c. shortening or softened butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp soda
3 c. quick cooking oatmeal
1/2 c. nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º

Cream shortening or butter with sugars. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat. Sift dry ingredients together and add. Add oatmeal and nuts. Mix well. Drop by teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.

This recipe came from a wartime cookbook of my mother's. No idea who Myrtle Muller was, but these cookies have been a family favorite for 50 years.
